How does OPPO Reno5 Pro 5G Compare With Reno6 Series Smartphones?

OPPO launched its new Reno6 series on 14th July 2021 in India. In the updated Reno series, the mobile giant has launched two phone models – OPPO Reno6 and OPPO Reno6 Pro 5G. The smartphones feature an impressive set of specifications. From a strong 1200 MTK Dimensity chipset to a 64MP Quad Camera, the phone promises an incredible experience to the user.

It is worth noting that the last update in the Reno series was launched in the same year in January. With the Reno5 Series, OPPO offered premium mobile phone features in the mid-range segment, with the price set under Rs.40,000.

 

But compared to the Reno5 Series, how well does it fare to its predecessor?

 

How is the Reno6 series better than the Reno5 Series? Let's take a deeper look at the specifications of both series to understand that. Let’s understand their similarities and differences.

Like its predecessors, the OPPO Reno6 series continues with a trendy, thin, and lightweight design. The phones are a delight to hold in a comfortable size of just 7.6mm thick and 177kg for the Reno6 Pro 5G and 7.59 mm thick and 182g for Reno6 5G respectively.


On the other hand, the Reno5 series weighs up to 173 grams. The phone has a glass front with an aluminium body frame.

Display

The screen's basic display parameters are almost the same as that of its predecessor. It features Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for protection and a 6.55’’ FHD+ AMOLED display.

 

One added feature is its Industry-leading display configurations with 360° Light-sensing. The phone detects the ambient light intensity from 360 degrees and helps with screen brightness adjustment.

The series displays a touchscreen of 6.55 inches AMOLED with a brightness of 500 nits. Another feature of the display is its 3D Borderless Screen for a smooth visual experience with its 90Hz refresh rate.

Hardware

The Reno6 Pro 5G features MediaTek's latest flagship 5G-integrated SoC, the Dimensity 1200, the OPPO Reno6 5G is the first phone in India to feature MediaTek's latest 5G-integrated SoC, the Dimensity 900. You can easily run large games on the smartphone with no lagging. The app launch rate is also faster.

It is powered by an Octa-core Cortex A77 and Cortex A55 Quad-core processor, having an operating speed of 2.6GHz and 2GHz, respectively. It has a massive 8GB RAM + 128 GB option and an Octa-Core CPU Cortex-A77 and Mali-G77 MC9 GPU, besides a powerful MediaTek Dimensity 1000 Plus chipset for enhanced gaming.

 

Camera

Producing high-quality images with real details, the Reno6 series smartphones are equipped with 64 MP + 8MP +2MP + 2MP Quad camera with Bokeh Flare Video Portrait and Focus Tracking. Get that DSLR effect from your smartphone camera.

 

It also has a 32MP front shooter for selfies and video calls. Al Highlight Video is powered by the Ultra Night Video Algorithm and Live HDR Algorithm. Once the feature is turned on, it will automatically select the corresponding algorithm to optimize the scene.

For a mid-range level smartphone, the OPPO Reno5 Pro 5G has notable camera features with 64 MP + 8MP +2MP + 2MP Quad camera with electronic image stabilization.

 

OPPO also introduced innovative camera technologies like AI Tuning, HDR Live Video, Ultra-Night Video, and Dual View Video.

Battery

The devices also feature a large 4500mAh and 4300mAh battery and 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 which can achieve 100% charge in about 31 minutes and 28 minutes respectively for Reno6 Pro 5G and Reno6 5G providing up to 4 hours of video playback with just 5 minutes of charge. 

The android smartphones are backed by a non-removable Li-po 4250 mAh battery + fast charging 65w. It gets fully charged within 36 minutes. Charging is done with a USB –C port, which doubles as a headphone jack. Reverse charging is also supported.

Storage

The smartphones are launched with 12 GB RAM + 256 GB ROM. It supports three levels of RAM Expansion:  3GB/5GB/7GB to boost performance.

Whereas this series has a storage option of 8GB RAM + 128 GB option.

Connectivity

Both the series have smartphones with industry-leading connectivity features like Mobile Hotspot, Wi-Fi, 5G & 4G VoLTE networks, NFC, A-GPS, Bluetooth v5.1, with USB Type C.

Network

In each Reno Series, the PRO models are designed with a 5G Modem for faster internet speed.

Reno Glow

The Reno Glow technique is OPPO’s smartphone design that brings unprecedented lustre and polish to Reno5 Pro with added fingerprint resistance. All smartphones in both series are coated with Reno Glow shimmer.

Other Notable Features

All models are designed with sensors such as Fingerprint (under display, optical), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass.



OPPO has been constantly upgrading its smartphones to keep up with the ever-changing trends in the mobile phone industry. The OPPO Reno5 Pro 5G smartphone was said to be a catch for selfie-addicts because of its camera technology. But with the newly launched smartphones in the OPPO Reno6 series, the OPPO fans can expect an interesting update in the Reno phones. Some of the features in the Reno6 series smartphones are indeed similar but the upgrade in the chipset is noteworthy.
